Bernard W. Bell is professor of English at Pennsylvania State University. He is coeditor of W.E.B. Du Bois on Race and Culture: Philosophy, Politics, and Poetics (1996), coeditor of Call and Response: The Riverside Anthology of the African American Literary Tradition (1998), and editor of Clarence Major and His Art: Portraits of an African American Postmodernist (2001).

I also appreciate the insights he offers when he points out that in the real world one would do this I would have liked to see a bit more explanation of when one particular technique is better than another in different situations in the real world.
As for the contents, the first chapter, 49 pages, is an obligatory introduction to the basics of the framework and yet manages to get into quite a lot of material. This is a lesser problem for me. Oh well, there were other prophets before him who didn't succeed in what they had in mind as well, I guess such is life.. Unless you are an absolute beginner, there is nothing new in this short book.. I would have loved to see Ditko take on Batman from the 60s - we might have seen a Year-One-type character 20 years earlier
except for one problem. I really enjoyed this book. Alice Cooper, Golf Monster is a tell-all memoir that alternates between Cooper's life story and his own "twelve step program" for becoming a golf addict. J
